Local Roundup: Findlay High tennis blanks Clay

OREGON — Findlay rolled in four of the five matches and rallied in the other in posting a 5-0 sweep of Oregon Clay on Tuesday in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference tennis match.
In a marathon 3 hour, 15-minute match at No. 1 singles, Findlay freshman Drew Swisher rallied to beat Oregon Clay’s Dempsey Coughlin 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7). After dropping the first set, Swisher trailed 2-0 in the second before rallying. He also trailed 6-2 in the third-set tiebreaker, but fought off five match points before earning the win.
Findlay, 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the TRAC, made quick work of the other matches.
In singles, Matt Munoz (No. 2) blanked Todd Gyurke and Sam Giedeman (No. 3) shut out Jacob Lammers by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Findlay’s doubles teams also won by matching totals. Alec Kagy and Kyle Hennessy (No. 1) beat Brody Leichty and Jacob VonHersett 6-1, 6-0, while Andre Hoffman and Logan Tichnor (No. 2) flipped that score in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Blake Hornyak and Justin Lutz.
Findlay is back in action today with a nonleague match at Springfield.

Lucadello tourney set
Port Clinton will be out to defend its championship when the Tony Lucadello Memorial Tournament is played Saturday at Foundation Park in Fostoria.
Playing on its home field named for Lucadello, a longtime Fostoria resident and major league scout, St. Wendelin will meet Cory-Rawson in the semifinals at 10 a.m.
At the same time, Fostoria High School will host the defending champion Redskins at FHS’ Grant Jackson Field.
The championship and consolation contests will be played simultaneously at Lucadello and Jackson fields, respectively, at approximately 12:45 p.m.
Port Clinton defeated Fostoria 6-3 in last year’s title game.
