Volleyball: Oilers win two in Alaska tournament

The University of Findlay women’s volleyball team capped its run at the Nanook Classic in Alaska with a pair of wins on Saturday.

The Oilers (2-1) beat Cal State East Bay in three games, winning 25-23, 25-16 and 25-19. They also knocked off Notre Dame de Namur by the scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-19.

Men’s Soccer: UF opens season with win

Ryan Poyle scored the lone goal for the University of Findlay men’s soccer team in its 1-0 season-opening win over Lewis on Saturday at DeHaven Field.

Poyle scored in the 83rd minute but was hit with a yellow card following the goal for taking his shirt off in celebration of the goal.

Women’s Soccer: Oilers blanked by Pumas

The University of Findlay women’s soccer team was beaten 1-0 by St. Joseph’s in a nonconference game on Sunday.

The Oilers (0-2) took 30 shots but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities.

The Pumas (1-1) managed only 12 shots and got their only goal from Sarah Johnson.

Women’s Soccer: Oilers fall to No. 21 Knights

LOUISVILLE — The University of Findlay women’s soccer team nearly pulled off an upset in its season opener Friday night.
