Prep Baseball Roundup: Eight-run six lifts Mohawk past Van Buren

VAN BUREN — Mohawk broke a 4-4 with an eight-run sixth inning and claimed a 12-5 victory over Van Buren on Tuesday in nonconference baseball action.
Tanner Osborn homered, singled and drove in five runs for the Warriors, who raised their record to 11-1. Austin Harper had a double among his three hits and knocked in two runs. David Dietrich, Cadin Emshoff and Wyatt Cook each had two hits, and Parker Brown hit a double and drove in a run.
Angel Garcia doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Saige Warren had two hits and two RBIs for the Black Knights (7-6).

CAREY — Colonel Crawford plated a run in each of the last three innings and that proved to be the difference as the Eagles topped Carey 9-6 in a Northern 10 Conference game.
Ethan Studer belted a solo home run and added a three-run double for Colonel Crawford (5-8 overall, 2-6 N10). Noah Thoman added three singles.
Jon Racheter had four hits, including a two-run double, to lead Carey (2-6, 1-4 N10). Easton Roark added three singles and Trey Bame doubled and drove in three runs.

Clayton Schnipke singled twice for the Big Green (0-8, 0-2 PCL).

PANDORA — Miller City scored nine runs in the first inning and Jacob Kuhlman fired a one-hit five-inning shutout as the Bulldogs rolled past Pandora-Gilboa 15-0 in a Putnam County League baseball game.
Lane Hiltner and Bryce Riepenhoff hit three singles apiece for Miller City (7-2, 3-1 PCL), while Corbin Niese added two doubles.
Pandora-Gilboa dropped to 2-9 overall and 1-2 in the league.

Owen Fuerst doubled among his three hits and drove in two runs, while Adam Birkemeier hit three singles and drove in a run for Columbus Grove (6-3, 3-1 PCL). Wyatt Seibert added two hits and three RBIs.
Losing pitcher Brandon Wehri had three singles and two RBIs to lead Fort Jennings (4-6, 0-2 PCL).

Jennings allowed just four hits, struck out nine and walked one in a pitchers battle with Kalida’s Grant Laudick. Laudick also allowed just four hits.
Derek Buss had three of Kalida’s four hits.

TOLEDO — Ada scored twice in the top of the first inning but Riverdale crossed seven times unanswered to pick up a 7-2 nonconference baseball victory Tuesday at Fifth-Third Field in Toledo.
Winning pitcher Wayne Frey (3-0) settled in after allowing a bases-loaded single to Ada’s Phillip Coulson and allowed only two hits in the remaining six innings.
Aidan Loveridge had two singles and three RBIs to lead the Falcons (8-4).
The Bulldogs dropped to 3-9 overall.

NEW RIEGEL — New Riegel’s Alex Theis drove in eight runs with a home run, triple and a pair of singles on Tuesday to power the Blue Jackets to a 19-11 slugfest win over Arlington in a nonleague baseball matchup.
A senior pitcher/first baseman headed to Ohio State on a baseball scholarship, Theis plated plated four runs in the third inning with a ground out and a three-run home run, tripled in two runs in the fourth and drove in two more with a base hit in the fifth.
Alec Zoeller (2-1B, 2B) and Louisville signee Michael Kirian (2-2B, 1B) drove in three runs each and Jacob Theis had two singles and a double for New Riegel (8-3). Blue Jackets’ leadoff batter Cole Noftz did not get a hit, but drew four walks and scored four times.
Evan O’Rear had three hits and drove in three runs for Arlington (2-6). Tommy Jones (2-1B, RBI), Logan Speyer (1B, 2B), Matthew Freed (2-1B), Trevor Lotz (1B, 2B, RBI) and Isaih Dawson (1B, 2B, RBI) all added two hits each.
